As the Indian wicketkeeper, Rishabh Panth scored the fastest thousand runs in Test cricket. So far this record was held by Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The young wicketkeeper broke that record on the way to winning the series in Brisbane.
Panth completed a thousand runs in his Test cricket career by scoring two runs on Tuesday. He reached this milestone by playing 26 innings. Former India captain Dhoni took 32 innings. Panth did not stop at averaging personal records. He stopped only after India won the Test for the first time at Gabbar. Panth remained unbeaten on 69 runs. The winning run also came from his bat.
When Ajinkya Rahane was out, India was 18/3. Joy seemed quite difficult at that time. Panth took the lead in India’s innings. Although the senior cricketers could not return after the match, he did. Pujara, Mayankara went back but he made the innings with Washington Sundar. He put a smile on the faces of Indian supporters.
