CBI arrests senior intelligence officer for accepting bribe of Rs 60 lakh

The CBI has arrested a senior intelligence officer working in the office of the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) in Ghaziabad on charges of taking bribe of Rs 60 lakh, officials said on Sunday.

A businessman had complained to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that the officer had demanded Rs 1 crore to show favor to his father in the ongoing case against him, they said.

Following the allegations, CBI officer Mohit Dhankar was charged with soliciting bribes, officials said.

“It was further alleged that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 1 crore through a private person / tout to show official favor to the father of the complainant in a case of DGGI, Ghaziabad,” CBI spokesperson RC Joshi said.
